Carving out a reputation as a unique and unconventional selector with a career spanning four decades Jim has spread his stereophonic stench everywhere from Jamaica to all over Europe, Australia, Rarotonga, Fiji, USA, the UK and of course NZ.
Though there are far too many highlights to include, sets alongside the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Adrian Sherwood, Mulatu Astatke and The Specials rate amongst the many highlights.

In the commercial world Jim has written bios, one sheets, PR materials and ad copy for numerous clients including Universal, Warners, Sony, BDO etc and countless artists and performers from Lorde and Ladi 6 to SJD and Shapeshifter.
A passionate supporter of the lost art of LP sleeve notes Jim has been tapped by the likes of everyone from Sol3 Mio and the Hallelujah Picassos to Burnt Friedman & The Nu Dub Players to illuminate their releases with some pungent patter.

In the creative realm Jim has been Music Editor at Planet Magazine, music reviewer and interviewer for The Listener, The Fix, Rip It Up, Black Magazine (Germany), Real Groove and many other publications.
Proficient and highly experienced at interviews and feature writing as well as reviewing and on occasion more academic pursuits, it always comes back to a love of words and a desire to flex the language and syntax as a vehicle on the route to higher listening.

Represented by the Word Of Mouth Voice Talent agency since early out Jim has added his dulcet tones to hundreds of TVCs, radio ads, documentary reads, training videos, hold messages, in-store campaigns and all the rest.
Clients include Heineken, Plumbing World, Energizer Batteries, Kellogg’s, Vodafone and Playstation alongside a host of major and independent music related companies.
BROADCASTER
Most well known for Stinky Grooves, which is rapidly approaching its 30th anniversary and much missed sister show Tranquility Bass (with Kirk Harding) on 95bFM.
Jim has also been a regular fixture on RNZ’s The Sampler as well as appearing on international airwaves on the likes of ABC, BBC, Kiss FM, Radio Nova and even Rarotonga’s mighty 88FM.
